Kuala Lumpur — In today’s world, relationships can be strained by people’s busy lives and various problems they experience. People are always asking themselves what makes love survive. Each relationship is unique. There are two couples who shared their experiences and revealed qualities that make the relationships work: understanding, patience and commitment.

Figure 1: Michael & Candy
Even though the first couple consists of Michael and Candy while the second one of Seremai and his wife, they are quite similar because they found out that a successful relationship involves more than just passion.
“You must have some argument,” — Michael said
For Michael and Candy, who had divorces in their past, love was something they were willing to invest time in and not rush. Spending almost ten years together before marriage, they wanted to be ready to build a family. They learned that arguments will appear anyway, but what matters is how couples deal with them.
“I think problems have to be settled within three days,” — Candy said.

Figure 2: The smiles are real, and so is the love
Seremai and his wife met in high school, and their love flourished. Even though they were young, they remained faithful for 8 years.

Answering “When did you realize that you were in love?”
“When I chose her, I wanted to do everything with her,” — Seremai replied.
Seremai emphasized the importance of being partners for a long-lasting relationship, which can be seen as an example of a relationship based on friendship and trust. When speaking about the secret of success, Seremai replied: “Attitude, and her lifestyle.”

Figure 4: He is the only one she looks at
Though both couples took different paths before marriage, one thing is clear. Lasting marriages have nothing to do with how or when you meet. It has everything to do with patience, communication, respect and a daily decision to stay together, whether love comes young or old.
