KUALA LUMPUR–People usually run away from danger but volunteer firefighters like the one in Kuala Lumpur do the opposite they run towards it. Calven Loke Wai Hoong is a volunteer firefighter that believes that helping people is a part of his daily life. He thinks that people in Malaysia do not know enough about fire safety and he gives it a low score, 1.5 out of 10. This makes him want to work harder.

He has blood pressure, but he keeps on serving the community because he believes that every single life is important.

One big cause of home fires is wiring. He tells people to turn off their appliances after they use them especially after cooking. He also says do not leave the kitchen when you are cooking. The firefighter wants to correct a minor public misunderstanding about volunteer firefighters. Many people think that volunteers are different from firefighter assuming that they do not work together.

Volunteer firefighters get the training and do official tasks they play a big role in emergencies, and the law protects their service.For people who want to join he says they must be at 18 years old be healthy and really want to help people. Volunteers can help in areas like fighting fires supporting ambulances doing administration work and water rescue.

Dato Sri Calven Loke Wai Hoong is also hopes that the government will teach people more information about fire safety and first aid. He thinks that every single home should have emergency tools, like fire extinguishers, fire blankets and smoke alarms.

His main goal is to help people to know more about the information of fire safety. He also wants to inspire Malaysians to become volunteer firefighters so they can make the community safer for everyone and that is what volunteer firefighters like him are working for to make the community safer for every single person and that is what fire safety is all about and that is what volunteer firefighters like the one, in Kuala Lumpur are doing they are working hard to make the community safer.
